A wealth of history

Historic Grass Valley retains a lot of its past in the architecture and the town's feel as you walk down the streets. The Grass Valley Museum on Church Street, located in Saint Mary’s Academy, was built in 1865 as a convent for Sisters of Mercy. The museum includes an original classroom, parlor, music room, doctor’s office and memorabilia.

Fine art galleries
There are also fine art galleries such as Julie Baker Fine Art (www.juliebakerfineart.com) and Windhorse Rugs both located on N. Auburn St. Artwork is also displayed at many local restaurants.

Exceptional recreation

Recreational activities abound in this region including snow to water skiing, boating, river rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing, golf, and gold panning. Historical parks like the Empire Mine are just a five minute drive from the hotel. The Empire Mine is the site of the oldest, richest mine in California located on 700 acres of forested areas. Beautiful gardens and fountains surround the original owner's residence at Bourne Cottage.
